Concrete mixers are subject to frictional wear from aggregates in both dry and wet conditions. Upgrading the material inside the drums to high friction resistant steel grades can extend the life of the drum and reduce its weight.
It uses quenched and tempered steel grades Hardox® wear plate and Toolox® engineering and tool steels to make customized wear parts to withstand both frictional wear and impact. Duroxite® coating products are also available for applications with severe or extreme friction wear and low to moderate impacts.
An example of successful Hardox® upgrades is a concrete mixer scraper for cleaning walls. The previous scraper made of cast iron had only 1/4 the service life of the scraper made of Hardox® 600. Another example was concrete molds that lasted longer and offered a higher block quality.
